Our fabrics
A suitable fabric for every accessory: from recycled, ecological, satin, twill to silk
Ottimare uses different fabrics for the scarves and fans. Most of them are ecological and/or recycled. On this page we explain more about our fabrics and their characteristics.
Circular Satin
For various scarves Ottimare uses heavy ecological recycled silk satin. This is a woven fabric with a very nice shine. Due to the higher weight, the fabric falls in beautiful round pleats. The fabric feels cool and smooth. Ideal for a wonderfully soft scarf or cravatte around your neck, which you can take with you on a trip without any problems, because it is iron-free.
What is this silk satin made of? The basis for this eco-fabric consists of recycled polyester. Recycled consumer products are given a second life by using them in these beautiful new fabrics. During production in a closed production system, as little water and chemicals as possible are used, so that the impact on the environment is minimal.
Circular Twill
The Circular Twill is a woven ecological fabric with a light weight. In the fabric you can see the characteristic diagonal parallel ridges. The cirucular Twill is hardly distinguishable from the 100% twill silk fabrics that are often used for scarves. The fabric is soft and wrinkle-free. Ideal for our ribbons and cravatte scarves.

Lyocell Twill (Tencel)
The ecological fabric we use for the Ottimare scarves from Lyocell Twill is made of 100% TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers. It is a medium weight fabric (160 gr/m2) that is a little bit stiffer than the light version of this fabric. In the fabric you can see the characteristic diagonal parallel ridges of the weave. This fabric is slightly shiny, soft and caresses your senses. An additional advantage is that the fabric easily absorbs moisture and still dries quickly. Ideal for warmer days or a sporting activity.
Due to the natural fibers, this fabric will wrinkle slightly when worn, but it is easy to iron. It also softens when it is worn a few times. Due to the soft shine, Ottimare’s scarves from Lyocell go perfectly with cotton and linen blouses, shirts, polos, jackets and sweaters.
TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers come from renewable wood sources and are produced in a sustainable closed system. During production, as little water and chemicals as possible are used, so that the environmental impact is minimal.
Lyocell Twill (Tencel) Light

Lyocell Tencel Satin
The Lyocell Satin is a light ecological fabric made from 100% TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers. This light fabric has a very soft satin sheen. The fabric is soft and caresses your senses, falls smoothly and easily absorbs moisture, but still dries quickly. Ideal for warmer days or a sporting activity.

100% Pongee silk
For the silk fans, Ottimare uses 100% untreated pongee silk. The fibers come from the cocoon of silkworms. Silk is not a sustainably produced fabric. Why doesn't Ottimare use artificial silk for the hand-painted fans you might wonder? For the art of silk painting, you need real silk because, like wool, it contains protein-rich fibers to which the dye can adhere. The amount of silk we need is little. The pongee side has a weight of 44 grams/m2. For one fan we use about 0.22 m2 of silk, including waste, so 9.6 grams of silk.
Circular Habotai
For the fans that we have printed, we use Circular Habotai. This softly shiny woven ecological fabric has, just like the pongee side of our hand-painted fans, a light weight and is extremely suitable to be stretched on the Spanish wooden frames.
What is the Circular Habotai made of? The basis for this eco-fabric consists of recycled polyester. Consumer products are recycled and serve as raw materials for this beautiful fabric. During production in a closed production system, as little water and chemicals as possible are used, so that the impact on the environment is minimal.
