At Ottimare, we create exclusive scarves in small batches, each featuring unique prints for any occasion. We don’t just focus on graphic design—we also pay close attention to the shape, size and fit of the scarf. It has to feel good and be easy to wear. So no oversized pieces of fabric that require clever draping, but rather scarves you can throw on without a mirror and still look perfectly put together
Scarves – Also for Less Delicate Necks
One thing we’ve noticed in mass production is that scarf dimensions are often dictated by the fabric roll width. Efficient? Sure. But does it result in the most flattering fit? Not necessarily. At Ottimare, we start with the ideal design: a scarf that truly feels good to wear. Then we work within the fabric width to minimize waste. The result? Scarves that tie easily and sit just right—even if you don’t have the slender neck of a runway model.
We offer several different models. Here’s a quick introduction:
The Twill Neck Scarf, Ribbon, Bandeau or Skinny scarf
Just a few names for a tiny and very popular scarf. The name 't.w.i.l.l.y-scarf' is also often used, but that name is registered by a french fashion company. So unfortunately it cannot legally be used to describe these scarves from other makers. Most neck scarves are made of twill, a weaving technique that creates a subtle diagonal pattern and a soft sheen. These days, the term refers to slim scarves made from all kinds of soft fabrics like satin or Tencel.
A standard neck-scarf is usually around 85 cm long, but Ottimare feels that this size is just a bit too short for a neat bow around the average Northern European neck. That’s why our ribbon scarves are slightly longer (approx.* 94 cm), giving you more room to tie a graceful knot. And that’s not all—wear it around your wrist, in your hair, or as an accessory on your bag or cap.
The Cravate
Our cravates are similar in shape to the before mentioned smaller neck scarves but a little longer and slightly wider. They measure approx.* 6.75 cm by 150 cm, giving you extra styling options. Tie it loosely, wear it as a bow, or even as a belt. Cravates are perfect year-round and offer just enough coverage to keep your neck warm on cooler days.
Long Straight Scarves
A timeless classic that always works. Long straight scarves are stylish, versatile, and pair beautifully with a blazer or jacket. No wonder they’re also a favorite among men. There are endless ways to wear them:
• Loop it and pull the ends through for a shorter look
• Knot it loosely for a relaxed feel
• Go bold with a big bow
• Try a choker-style knot inside your shirt collar
Our double-layered scarves measure approx.* 20 x 160 cm (8 x 63 inches) and are finished with either a blind hem or a subtle fringe at the ends.
The Frilly Scarf
The Frilly is our newest invention: a long twill scarf with straight ends, finished with a delicate fringe. It measures approx.* 8 x 154 cm (3.1 x 60.2 inches) and is usually made of twill fabric. Slightly wider than the cravate, it makes a bit more of a statement. Just like the cravate, you can fold it over, tie it loosely, or wear it as an elegant bow.
