the design

The design on this fan depicts two dancing figures, inspired by a 15th-century Tibetan thangka. These impressive, embroidered tapestries were an essential part of Buddhist ceremonies and functioned as movable murals.
Thangkas were often richly decorated with deities dancing on lotus leaves, wrapped in fluttering scarves and draperies. They made offerings such as shells and flowers, making the cloths an enchanting and festive scene. With this fan you always carry that piece of history and art with you.

handmade in EU and AEA quality

How the printed hand fans of Ottimare are made

After printing the Ottimare design on recycled silk, the fabric is cut and send for assembly to a specialized family owned workshop in Spain.

In their atelier, with over 200 years of experience, the fabric is stiffened, manually pleated, and carefully stretched onto the wooden frame. The wooden frames are handcrafted in Spain and bear the official Spanish quality mark 'AEA Abanico Español.' AEA stands for 'Abanico Artesanos Español,' the distinctive label for artisanally produced fans made in Spain. This mark is engraved on the back of the fan frame, guaranteeing the high quality of the wooden frames used in Spanish fans.
